3D printed Ducati Clutch cover

clutch cover for a 748. the cooling ribs end up right where the side fairing begins.

Everybody who has dealt with the older Ducati models will agree, that there is plenty, and maybe enough different clutch covers for the Ducati dry clutches for sale.
One reason why I devided to still have these in my portfolio is, that nowadays the limits for designing small gadgets like these become more and more limitless. While a milled cover is only affordable when you have at least hundreds produced, likely in a low wage country and a large customer base, 3D printing offers us the opportunity of having one, individually designed and manufactured for our personal likes and needs.

Basic clutch cover design

Having a basic design, that can be modified in any way, while keeping the hardpoints that are necessary to be able to mount it properly onto the engine was my way of dealing with that idea. Starting there, I can add elements to it or create holes that show off the working clutch in any way that suits.
While some shapes are harder to manufacture with milling procedures, 3D printing gives us the opportunity to design more rigorous.
It will fit on most of the Ducati models from the early 1990s up to the late models that carried the dry clutch system Ducati produced for quite a while.
