After a major accident, the author decided to rebuild the thing instead of investing the money into a different bike. Along with rebuilding the bike, we added some more or less major changes while trying to keep the bikes original looks.
Summary:
- frame changed to fit air-filters for the flat slider carb.
- forkholders milled to fit the 0,5mm thicker M1R fork that came from an early 851 model
- adaption of a 1993 SuperSports rear swingarm, which shortens the wheelbase
- adaption of a half enclosing fairing
- change of the engine gaskets to stop the engine from leaking
- mounting 320mm brake disks (The M1R fork supports these, because the brake calliper mounts are set up for this disk diameter) . the original fork only supported 300mm discs
- fitting a hand-made tangential exhaust manifold
- relocation of the electric setup
- main frame sandblasted and repainted
